Bright and Beautiful
Meet Lisa
A curious soul fascinated by the mysteries of the universe.
Since she was young, Lisa has always felt deeply attuned to the energies and emotions around her, often overwhelmed by her empathic feelings and not understanding it. However, it took her years to learn how to navigate and understand these sensations amidst her chaotic thought patterns. And her boundless energy. In her late teens, Lisa began to explore her intuitive side, initially as a casual hobby.
Despite her initial hesitation, her natural gift for readings became apparent as friends and family sought her guidance. However, without knowledge of grounding and protection, Lisa often found herself scared. Throughout her life, Lisa's interest in spirituality remained strong, leading her to explore various practices and beliefs.
When she moved to Greece, her journey took a temporary pause until the lockdown provided her with the opportunity to dive deeper into her spiritual path. During this time of introspection, Lisa found solace in reconnecting with her love for reading, joining mentors and online groups where she felt comfortable to explore.
As she delved deeper into her spiritual journey, Lisa also found herself fortunate to expand her creative businesses. Combining her entrepreneurial spirit with her innate gifts, she began to experiment and play around with blending the two together, creating a unique fusion that allowed her to express herself authentically while serving others in meaningful ways.
Now, Lisa stands at a new beginning, fully embracing her gifts and the journey ahead. By the power of curiosity, resilience, and creativity in uncovering one's true purpose and potential.

Art Workshops
Using art as a mindfulness tool can provide a uniquely accessible opportunity to let the mind wander freely while focusing attention on a simple, engaging task – it is a 'hack' for present moment awareness. Mindfulness and art are also becoming more popular as a form of therapy for young people.
Combining mindfulness concepts with art therapy results in the therapeutic treatment known as mindfulness-based art. It combines the philosophy of mindfulness within an art setting. You engage in the creative process off making art as a way to explore yourself in a mindful manner
Everyone is creative in their own way.
Creative expression can be simple and fun AND profoundly deep and healing.
So many of us have strong Inner Critics which stop us from creating and expressing ourselves freely.
Creating Mindful Meditative Art can increase self-awareness, self-compassion, and self-expression.
Mindful Art focuses on the creative process (vs. the final product).
The invitation is to make marks in a non-judgmental way allowing us to “collaborate with chance” and embrace how our creative impulses unfold.
Mindful Art often induces a Flow State and you are encouraged to notice your breath, thoughts, sensations, emotions, etc while making art.
Mindful Meditative Art is a creative form of meditation. Whether you’re an experienced artist, meditator, or have no previous experience this practice is for you!
Many people find Mindful Meditative Art activities more accessible than sitting on a cushion trying to tame our meandering thoughts through more traditional styles of meditation.
The great news is there's no wrong way to do it; simply show up and allow yourself to be curious about your process.

Popular clothing recycling workshop, where we turn old clothes into unique, handcrafted works of art. Please feel free to bring your own items of clothing if they have a significant meaning to you, but don’t worry if you haven’t got anything (or the space in your case) we have plenty of items that can be used here in the workshop.
We carefully sort through each item, checking for stains or damage, and wash them thoroughly before proceeding. This ensures that the final product is not only beautiful but also hygienic and safe to use.
Once the clothing is clean and dry, we cut them into strips of desired shapes and sizes. This allows us to repurpose the material into a variety of new designs and creations, from rugs to wall hangings to bags and more.
The clothing recycling workshop is a great way for you to learn new skills and unleash your creativity, all while making a positive impact on the planet. Not only does it keep clothing out of landfills, but it also provides a fun and fulfilling way to repurpose materials that might otherwise go to waste. And of course, it’s a skill that you can continue to use back in the UK.

Crystals
There are several different types of crystals. Some people believe they have healing abilities for the mind, body, and soul.
Many ancient cultures — including ones in Egypt, Greece, and China — believed that crystals have healing properties.
Some people claim that crystals promote the flow of good energy and help rid your body and mind of negative energy for physical and emotional benefits. They believe certain crystals benefit your sleep, help you manifest your desires, and add an additional healing element to reiki.
A few things you can do with crystals:
Hold them.
Place them where you'll see them often.
Meditate or pray with them.
Keep them in your pocket.
Wear them.
Combine them with your essential oils.
Place them under your pillow at night.
-
First things first: Identify what you feel you’re missing before looking into what the stones can provide you. This will help you determine what’s happening within yourself before depending on outside sources.
From there, just let your intuition choose what’s best for you.
Whether a crystal catches your eye or you feel a pull toward one, your inner subconscious can help guide you to the crystal that’s right for you.
Once it’s picked out, you can create the connection you need.

Auras
An aura is a colour-specific energy field that surrounds all living things, including humans, animals, and even plants. It is a form of energy that radiates a few inches to a few feet in an oval shape around the body, and can change based on thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
Auras are referenced in many traditions, including yoga and hinduism. There are differences between each discipline, however they all agree on the idea of the aura as an extension of the energy field of the human body.
An aura is an important part of most spiritual practices. This is because your energy field is an excellent guide on current levels of openness, receptivity, and emotions. We are so much more than our physical bodies, and by connecting with auras, we can learn so much about ourselves and others.
Feeling stressed out and low on energy? Your aura will reflect this. Equally, if you’re feeling fulfilled and confident, you will radiate this positivity. As we navigate life’s challenges, our aura becomes our ally, showing us where we need to grow and heal.
As the famous quote explains, “We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.” Learning to see your aura takes your spiritual practice to a greater level than ever before.
Sometimes an aura is described as a vibrational frequency, or vibe for short. It turns out that humans are pretty good and sensing each other’s vibes. If you spend time with someone and feel drained afterwards, this might be because the person has a low frequency energy field. Equally, if you spend time with a person and feel energised and uplifted, it’s because their aura is probably very strong and healthy.
Our auras are made up of a collection of energy fields which are known as energetic bodies. Each energy field corresponds to the seven main chakras within the body. These subtle forms of energy overlap and intertwine, and contribute to our overall aura.
-
The seven layers of the aura
1) Physical aura plane: this represents our physical health and connects to the root chakra. It is the closest to the body and is the easiest to see with the naked eye.
2) Emotional aura plane: this part of the aura links to our feelings and connects to the sacral chakra. It often changes in colour depending on fluctuating moods, and can appear muddy if you’re experiencing emotional stress.
3) Mental aura plane: this plane represents our state of mind and the ego. It connects to the solar plexus chakra and will often produce coloured sparks when you engage in a mentally stimulating task.
4) Astral body aura plane: the astral body represents our spiritual health and our ability to give and receive love. It links to the heart chakra and if it’s healthy, it glows with a vibrant pink/red colour.
5) Etheric aura plane: moving further out, the etheric aura plane is the home of psychic abilities. It connects to the throat chakra and is the home of pure potentiality and authentic self expression.
6) Celestial aura plane: this part of the aura is where our intuition and dreams are held. It emanates from the third eye chakra. It is the home of unconditional love and bliss, and glows in a rainbow colour when healthy.
7) Causal aura plane: the last and most expansive aura plane is a combination of all other layers and radiates from the crown chakra. It stores all information about our soul purpose and has a beautiful golden glow.
-
Having your aura read is an excellent way to check in on your physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. As you become familiar with your own aura and the aura of others, you will develop your psychic gifts and progress on your spiritual journey.
It’s important to note that aura colours can change frequently. It’s a good idea to check in with your energy field on a regular basis and make a note of the colours you see in order to track your growth. Energy fields are always made up of one or more colours. Here are their meanings. If you ever feel confused, remember the basic rule: each colour links to one of the main chakras.
Black/Brown Aura
A dark coloured aura means you are holding onto negativity which is stopping the flow of energy to your chakras. It is a sign you need to release mental, emotional, or spiritual blockages, and you might need to examine your behaviour towards others as this is often a sign of selfishness.
Grey Aura
This aura is an indication of stagnant energy, usually from indecision or a lack of motivation. It’s also a sign that you feel pessimistic and would benefit from opening yourself up to new possibilities and connections. This is a sign to invite more joy and playfulness into your life.
Red Aura
A red aura is a sign of passion, action, and determination. This indicates that you feel rooted enough to move forward with clarity, and you feel a sense of peace and safety within yourself. If your aura is bright red, you might need to bring in a form of rest to balance out your passion.
Orange Aura
This aura is associated with creativity and vitality. A glowing orange aura is a strong sign that you feel fulfilled on a creative level and you allow your emotions to flow freely. It also represents good health and balanced relationships which allow you to express your full potential.
Yellow Aura
A yellow aura indicates playfulness, optimism, and a healthy sense of self. It’s a strong sign that you are inquisitive and open minded, and are willing to take the next steps in your spiritual journey. Keep following your curiosities in order to learn more about yourself and others.
Green Aura
People with a green aura tend to be kind, compassionate, and open-hearted. You are radiating a warm and nurturing energy and are likely experiencing high levels of love for yourself or others. It’s also a sign that you are connected to nature and value spending time outdoors.
Blue Aura
This aura is associated with self-expression, communication, and integrity. You are willing to speak your truth and are sensitive to the words of others. A blue aura is also a sign of a strong and developing intuition and the ability to read the energy of other people.
Indigo Aura
An indigo aura is associated with intuitive and psychic abilities and a deep spiritual connection. It is also a sign that you’re an old soul containing wisdom from many lifetimes, which means that you might struggle to feel present in everyday life. It’s important to ground yourself regularly.
Violet Aura
People with a violet aura are gifted on a spiritual level and often work as healers, intuitives, and guides. You value deep and meaningful connections and are unconcerned with surface level conversations. You are here to find your soul purpose and help improve the lives of others.
White Aura
A white aura is a sign of balance, integration, and calmness. Each chakra is open and flowing, and it’s a sign of good health on all levels. This is the rarest of all aura colours, which means you’re likely to absorb others’ energy. Cleansing your energy is essential to protect yourself.
Golden Aura
People with a gold aura are spiritually advanced, emotionally aware, and a joy to be around. They radiate a warm and inviting energy and have a clear understanding of their soul mission in this lifetime. They are guided by compassion and are always seeking the next level of growth.
Rainbow Aura
Rainbow auras are associated with lightworkers, healers, and those attuned to higher dimensions. You have committed to your personal and spiritual growth and as a result your chakras are open and flowing. You are grounded in the present moment and value connection.
Cloudy Aura
A cloudy aura indicates a spiritual, mental, or emotional blockage. You might be going through a difficult period in life or facing challenges. This is a sign to honour your feelings, and connect to your authenticity. As you take care of yourself, your aura will strengthen and regain colour.
Learning how to see your aura colour is an excellent way to check in on your physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. As you become familiar with your own aura and the aura of others, you will develop your psychic gifts and progress on your spiritual journey.
It’s important to note that aura colours can change frequently. It’s a good idea to check in with your energy field on a regular basis and make a note of the colours you see in order to track your growth.
Guided Meditation
In guided meditation, our practice is shaped by another person’s voice. Because the mind has a tendency to wander where it will, many of us find it easier to focus and relax when our minds aren’t entirely left to their own devices. This form of meditation is often led by a (real live) guide in group settings, or by recordings presented on apps, podcasts, videos, CDs, etc.
Guided meditations are easier to stick to because of how short they are, how easy they are to follow, and how accessible they are for beginners. Sitting alone with your thoughts unguided can be a challenge for people. Some people may experience an aversion to unguided meditations because their thoughts wander too much. However, with a guide, you can calm the mind to help you manage ruminating thoughts. You’ll be more likely to stick to something when you see that it works for you and helps you manage your thoughts better.
Guided meditations are better for difficult situations. For example, a person with PTSD likely wouldn’t enjoy being alone with their thoughts. Often, after a traumatic event, our brain replays memories, thoughts, and activities on repeat, trying to scan for new patterns to determine if there’s an exit. Then, with a guide, you’ll have prompts helping you navigate those challenging thoughts, so you don’t feel stuck in your head. Those feeling anxious can use guided meditation to relax them and ease the tension in their body. They can do body scan meditations to find the source of tension in their bodies to help eliminate it.
Three popular forms of guided meditation are mindfulness, stress reduction and relaxation.
-
Guided mindfulness meditation
Mindfulness may be simple, but it isn’t always easy. This is because we’re training the mind to do something very different from what it’s used to doing. Typically, our thoughts are all over the map, trotting after sensory input, daydreams, remembrances of the past and projections of the future. But during mindfulness practice, we train the mind to stay put. The sensory input, daydreams, thoughts and emotions continue as usual, but instead of following them, we’re encouraging the mind to remain in the present by focusing on a meditation support such as the breathing process, physical sensations or a sound.
Especially useful for beginners, guided mindfulness meditation takes the guesswork out of the mechanics of practice. Some forms of mindfulness incorporate visualization meditation, where an image is evoked and used to anchor and inform one’s practice.
Once they’re comfortable with the basics of sitting and meditating, many individuals find benefit in a progressive meditation course that they can follow at their own pace, according to available time and practice rhythm.
-
Guided meditation for stress reduction
Stress is a modern epidemic! And you’ve probably heard about how mindfulness practice has been known to relieve stress. But if you sit down to practice and your mind is constantly preoccupied with thoughts like, “Wait! What, exactly, am I supposed to be doing?” or “Why am I thinking so much!?” you might feel like meditation is increasing your stress! That’s why guided meditations are so useful: they gently introduce you to the stress relieving practice.
-
Guided relaxation meditation
In keeping with guided meditations for stress relief, there are also dedicated guided meditations for relaxation and sleep. In general, these consist of a pleasant, soothing recorded meditation geared towards helping the listener let go of anxieties and tensions as they relax in bed or a comfortable chair.
Often, guided relaxation meditations incorporate calming sounds, “mindfulness music,” comforting melodies and the like. They may invite listeners to imagine themselves in pleasant, peaceful environments—under a tree by a placid mountain lake, for example, with a gently settling sun and the reassuring sound of wavelets lapping against the shore. Their purpose is to encourage people to unwind, or relax and sleep, and they’re often very good at it! Some individuals discover that to enjoy their deepest, best sleep, meditations of this kind are invaluable.
One big difference between these last exercises and the previous two kinds of guided meditation is that here, you’re looking to let go of anxieties and restlessness by replacing the usual thoughts with soothing images and sounds that are conducive to a state of relaxation.
With guided mindfulness and guided stress reduction meditations, on the other hand, you’re learning to remain anchored in the present moment—to observe what’s going on right here, right now—and this naturally results in a sense of peace and relaxation. It’s not because you’re replacing the busy mind with pleasant imagery, but because you’ve discovered that it’s actually possible to be aware of what’s going on in the mindstream and let it pass on by.
Yoga
Yoga is a Sanskrit word translated as “yoke” or “union.” To yoke means to draw together, to bind together; or to unite. Its aim is to yoke or create a union of the body, mind, soul, and universal consciousness. This process of uniting the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of ourselves is what allows yogis to experience deep states of freedom, peace and self-realization.
Yoga is an ancient and complex practice, rooted in Indian philosophy, it is also a mind and body practice that can build strength and flexibility. It began as a spiritual practice but has become popular as a way of promoting physical and mental well-being.
Although classical yoga also includes other elements, yoga as practiced in most places typically emphasizes physical postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditation (dyana).
There are many different yoga styles, ranging from gentle practices to physically demanding ones.
Research suggests that yoga may:
Help improve general wellness by relieving stress, supporting good health habits, and improving mental/emotional health, sleep, and balance.
Relieve neck pain, migraine or tension-type headaches, and pain associated with knee osteoarthritis. It may also have a small benefit for low-back pain.
Help people with overweight or obesity lose weight.
Help people stop smoking.
Help people manage anxiety symptoms or depression.
Relieve menopause symptoms.
Be a helpful addition to treatment programs for substance use disorders.
Help people with chronic diseases manage their symptoms and improve their quality of life.
Studies have suggested possible benefits of yoga for several aspects of wellness, including stress management, mental/emotional health, promoting healthy eating/activity habits, sleep, and balance.

As all beings evolve, so has the practice of Yoga. In recent times, Yoga has grown to encompass newer principles that form the base of its practices. These four basic principles underline the holistic approach of Yoga in modern times.
1st principle: Human body is a holistic entity comprised of various interrelated dimensions inseparable from one another and the health or illness of any one dimension affects the other dimensions.
2nd Principle: Individuals and their needs are unique and therefore must be approached in a way that acknowledges this individuality and their practice must be tailored accordingly.
3rd Principle: Self-empowering; the student is his or her own healer. Yoga engages the student in the healing process; by playing an active role in their journey toward health, the healing comes from within, instead of from an outside source and a greater sense of autonomy is achieved.
4th Principle: The quality and state of an individuals mind is crucial to healing. When the individual has a positive mind-state healing happens more quickly, whereas if the mind-state is negative, healing may be prolonged.
Along with being a way of life, it is also considered a practical science with five principles forming its core:
Proper Exercises (Asanas)
Proper Breathing (Pranayama)
Proper Relaxation
Proper Diet and Nutrition
Meditation and Positive thinking.

Patanjali laid out the fundamentals of yoga philosophy and practice in his classic text, the Yoga Sutras. He describes eight limbs or steps to reach the goal of the practice. Each limb is a spiritual, mental, or physical practice that builds upon one another. The limbs of the eightfold path are:
Yama – The moral codes of conduct
Niyama – The physical observances and internal practices
Asana – The proper posture
Pranayama – The proper breathing exercises
Pratyahara – The withdrawal of senses from external distractions
Dharana – The mental concentration and focusing the mind
Dhyana – The meditation and focus on a single point
Samadhi – The cessation of all mental activity to attain a state of oneness

Whether you want a physically demanding yoga class, or a relaxing, meditative one, there are plenty of different yoga styles to suit a variety of skill levels and needs.
Each style is a bit different from the others, plus you'll find variations depending on the teacher. That said, giving a few styles and teachers a try before settling on your favorite will enhance your overall yoga experience and challenge you to break out of your comfort zone.
Benefits of yoga
Yoga is an excellent way to get sweaty and centered, whether you're a total newbie or longtime pro. Plus, there are some seriously awesome health benefits of yoga that you can score from a daily practice.
Studies show that yoga can improve physical health by lowering blood pressure, reducing the risk of heart disease1, and aiding digestion. It may also help practitioners sleep better and manage stress2. Not to mention, recent research indicates the mind-body practice supports mental health, specifically; one study found regular yoga may help ease depressive symptoms.
Curious to learn more about each type? This guide will help you understand the basics before diving into a class.
The most common types of yoga
1. Vinyasa yoga
Vinyasa means "to place in a special way" and, in this case, yoga postures. Vinyasa yoga is often considered the most athletic yoga style, and was adapted from ashtanga yoga in the 1980s. Many types of yoga can also be considered "vinyasa flows," such as ashtanga, power yoga, and prana.
How to practice:
In vinyasa classes, movements are coordinated with your breath in order to flow from one pose to another. Vinyasa styles can vary depending on the teacher, and there can be many types of poses in different sequences. I personally teach an alignment-based style of vinyasa and choreograph new flows every time, but I also like to hold some of the poses a bit longer after warming up. You can find more information on specific vinyasa poses and benefits here.
2. Hatha yoga
The Sanskrit term "hatha" is an umbrella term for all physical postures of yoga. In the West, hatha yoga simply refers to all the other styles of yoga (ashtanga, Iyengar, etc.) that are grounded in a physical practice. However, there are other branches of yoga such as kriya, raja, and karma yoga that are separate from the physical-based yoga practice. The physical-based yoga is the most popular and has numerous styles.
How to practice:
Hatha yoga classes are best for beginners since they are usually paced slower than other yoga styles. Hatha classes today are a classic approach to breathing and exercises. If you are brand-new to yoga, hatha yoga is a great entry point to the practice.
3. Iyengar yoga
Iyengar yoga was founded by B.K.S. Iyengar and focuses on alignment as well as detailed and precise movements. In an Iyengar class, students perform a variety of postures while controlling the breath.
How to practice:
Generally, poses are held for a long time while adjusting the minutiae of the pose. Iyengar relies heavily on props to help students perfect their form and go deeper into poses in a safe manner. Although you won't jump around, you will definitely get a workout and feel incredibly open and relaxed after an Iyengar class. This style is really great for people with injuries who need to work slowly and methodically.
4. Kundalini yoga
Kundalini yoga practice is equal parts spiritual and physical. This style is all about releasing the kundalini energy in your body said to be trapped, or coiled, in the lower spine.
How to practice:
A kundalini class will really work your core and breath with fast-moving, invigorating postures and breath exercises. These classes are pretty intense and can involve chanting, mantra, and meditation. To learn more about this specific practice, check out our kundalini yoga explainer.
5. Ashtanga yoga
In Sanskrit, ashtanga is translated as "Eight Limb path." In Mysore, India, people gather to practice this form of yoga together at their own pace—if you see Mysore-led ashtanga, it's expected of you to know the series. Vinyasa yoga stems from ashtanga as the flowing style linking breath to movement. To learn more about this specific practice, check out our beginner's guide to ashtanga yoga.
How to practice:
Ashtanga yoga involves a very physically demanding sequence of postures, so this style of yoga is definitely not for the beginner. It takes an experienced yogi to really love it. Ashtanga starts with five sun salutation A's and five sun salutation B's and then moves into a series of standing and floor postures.
6. Bikram yoga
Bikram yoga is named after Bikram Choudhury and features a sequence of set poses in a sauna-like room—typically set to 105 degrees and 40% humidity. Choudhury faced sexual assault and harassment lawsuits in the U.S. and fled to Mexico in 2017. Many studios that were formerly Bikram now practice hot yoga, in an effort to disassociate with the founder.
How to practice:
The sequence never changes and includes a series of 26 basic postures, with each one performed twice. Many of these poses are focused on proper alignment. If you're interested in yoga with the heat turned up, look for studios that offer hot yoga classes.
7. Yin yoga
Yin yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga with seated postures that are held for longer periods of time. Yin can also be a meditative yoga practice that helps you find inner peace.
How to practice:
Yin is a great class for beginners, as postures can be held anywhere from 45 seconds to 2 minutes. The classes are relaxed, as you're supposed to let gravity do most of the work. Check out our crash course on everything you need to know about yin yoga, found here.
8.Restorative yoga
Restorative yoga focuses on winding down after a long day and relaxing your mind. At its core, this style focuses on body relaxation. Restorative yoga also helps to cleanse and free your mind.
How to practice:
You'll spend more time in fewer postures throughout a restorative yoga class. Many of the poses are modified to be easier and more relaxing. Like Iyengar, many props are used and placed just right, such as blankets, bolsters, and eye pillows. All of the props are there to help you sink deeper into relaxation.
9. Prenatal yoga
Prenatal yoga is carefully adapted for moms-to-be, and is tailored to women in all trimesters. Many have said that prenatal is one of the best types of exercise for expectant moms because of the pelvic floor work, focus on breathing, and bonding with the growing baby. Prenatal yoga also helps mothers prepare for labor and delivery.
How to practice:
During this practice, you'll use props in order to modify your poses and ensure stability—in this class, it's way more about stability than flexibility.
10. Anusara yoga
Anusara is a modern-day version of hatha yoga, most similar to vinyasa in that it focuses on alignment, but with more emphasis on the mind-body-heart connection. It was founded by John Friend who created a unique system called the Universal Principals of Alignment. He resigned in 2012 after accusations of sexual misconduct and financial mismanagement. Friend has since partnered with Desi and Micah Springer to teach the Bowspring method.
How to practice:
Anusara focuses on spirals and how each body part should be moving, and it's also known for its emphasis on heart opening. Expect to stop in class and gather around a student as the instructor breaks down a pose.
11. Jivamukti yoga
Jivamukti was founded in 1984 by Sharon Ganon and David Life. Jivamukti is mainly vinyasa-flow-style classes infused with Hindu spiritual teachings. At its core, this style emphasizes connection to Earth as a living being, so most Jivamukti devotees follow a vegetarian philosophy.
How to practice:
A series of chants usually open the beginning of class, followed up by a series of poses that align with the five tenets of Jivamukti yoga and philosophy.
